Position Summary As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will be responsible for the following duties:
Providing development, coordination, implementation and monitoring of specialized clinical treatment programs which meet the needs of patients who suffer with co-existing problems of mental illness and substance abuse.
Addressing issues through several treatment modalities to best fit the individual treatment needs of the patient.
Functioning as part of the primary treatment team and participates in the assessment process.
Assisting in formulation of the individualized treatment plan and implementing Substance Use Disorder (SUD) portions of the plans.
Contributing to patient and program evaluation, and monitoring progress.
Providing input into policy and procedure development relative to the program responsibility area and providing training to Institution staff on dual disordered issues.
Providing recommendations to the multidisciplinary team during patient discharge planning.
Salary Information The starting salary is between $26.
00 and $38.
00 per hour (approximately between $54,000 and $79,000 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits.
A 12-month probationary period is required.
This position is eligible for additional add-on based on credentials:
Substance Abuse Counselor-in-Training (SAC-IT) = $1.
00/hour Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC) = $1.
50/hour Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) = $2.
00/hour Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.
This position is in pay schedule and range 12/63.
Job Details Job Details:
All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Qualifications Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
Certification as a SAC-IT, SAC, or CSAC by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
Ability to work one evening per week and one weekend shift per month.
Training or experience performing group and individual treatment services.
Training or experience conducting SUD assessments such as ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine).
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
Experience working with dually diagnosed populations.
Experience working in a secured/locked setting.
Certification as a Clinical Supervisor-In-Training, Intermediate Clinical Supervisor, or Independent Clinical Supervisor by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
Experience working with patients in crisis and assisting patients to de-escalate with least restrictive interventions appropriate to situation.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
